Fast for Justice

On day 11, Eliseo Medina ended his water-only fast symbolically by sharing bread with striking workers after Rev. Frank Corbishley broke the bread.

One of the nation's foremost civil rights leaders, Charles Steele, Jr., national president and CEO of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), will be in Miami tomorrow to support janitors and students at the University of Miami who are in their second week of a hunger strike to protest civil rights violations against janitors at the University of Miami.

Today at  8:30 a.m Pablo Rodriguez, 31, awoke feeling weak. He then began to shake.  His blood pressure dropped to dangerous levels .  An ambulance was called and he was taken to Doctors hospital.

HUNGER STRIKE DAY NINE: Janitors, Supporters to Observe Holy Thursday One Day after Third Hospitalization of Fasting Workers
Striking janitors and their supporters at the University of Miami will observe the religious tradition of Holy Thursday as seven of their co-workers are in day nine of a hunger strike that has led to the hospitalization of three janitors and left the others in a significantly weakened physical state.  The janitors were joined Wednesday on their hunger strike by half a dozen students protesting the rash of civil rights abuses committed against workers on the campus.
